Voices for Reconciliation choir 2026

Deaf and hard of hearing people are encouraged to participate in the Voices for Reconciliation choir initiatives.

The Voices for Reconciliation choir aims to be inclusive of all abilities and backgrounds, accommodating diverse ways of connecting and performing. It focuses on unity, community and supporting the National Reconciliation Week 2026 theme of 'All In'.

Deaf choirs and Auslan signing choirs are active across Australia, fostering inclusion by blending visual language with music. Groups range from school-based programs to community-focused initiatives like this one that allow Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing individuals to perform together.

Last year, more than 700 choirs and thousands of people across Australia joined Voices for Reconciliation to sing and sign Solid Rock – the largest ever turnout.

This year, Reconciliation Australia is hoping to break that record with even more choirs and people taking part to perform the classic land rights anthem Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil.

Choir participants must register and can choose how to be involved, solo or in a group, singing or signing, and are encouraged to perform in various settings – schools, homes, offices, community spaces or somewhere in the great outdoors.

The deadline for video submissions is 8pm Wednesday 13 May 2026.
