The Victorian Deaf Education Institute (VDEI) is pleased to present the Victorian Deaf Education Institute Strategic Plan 2021-2023.
Since its establishment in 2011, VDEI has gained a strong state-wide, national, and international reputation as a centre of expertise in deaf education. VDEI’s vision is to contribute to improvement in the educational outcomes for the more than 4,000 students in Victoria who are deaf or hard of hearing by strengthening the knowledge and practice of the professionals and communities that support them.
To achieve this commitment, the Victorian Deaf Education Institute Strategic Plan 2021-2023 identifies four key strategic priorities that define the goals of the Institute and address the ways in which the Department of Education will contribute to enhancing the learning outcomes of deaf and hard of hearing students in Victoria:
- Designing and delivering excellence in evidence-based professional learning
- Enhancing learning and communication access through innovative technology
- Engaging in targeted research and projects that identify and inform leading practice in deaf education
- Strengthening partnerships with stakeholders in the deaf and inclusive education sectors.
The strategic goals articulated in the Victorian Deaf Education Institute Strategic Plan 2021-2023 reinforce the Department of Education's commitment to providing inclusive, high-quality and accessible learning opportunities for all deaf and hard of hearing students in Victoria.
