The Professional Standards for Educational Interpreters is an evidence-based framework developed by the Victorian Deaf Education Institute. The framework identifies the standards, knowledge and competencies required by educational interpreters working in Primary and Secondary schools and aims to support the professional growth and practice of the educational interpreting community.
The development of Professional Standards for Educational Interpreters is an important step in recognising the valuable role educational interpreters play in providing deaf and hard of hearing students equitable access to the school curriculum through Auslan/English interpreting.
