Deaf Australia Online Summit 23-24 June 2026

Deaf Australia is hosting an online national summit on 23 & 24 June to bring together Deaf community members, advocates, interpreters, professionals, organisations and stakeholders from across Australia.

The summit will provide a space for discussion, collaboration and community input on key issues affecting Deaf people today and into the future. The theme is 'Putting Auslan on the agenda'.

The Victorian Department of Education supports children learning Auslan as part of school Language Programs. More than 76,000 students in over 330 Victorian government schools currently learn Auslan. This provides valuable opportunities for hearing peers to become communication partners with deaf children in their communities.

The Victorian Government has also invested $53.8 million in the Early Childhood Language Program to help preschool children learn in a language other than English, and this includes Auslan. The program will run in kindergartens from 2019 to 2027.
